1970 c10 gas gauge not working

I have a 1970 GTO and the fuel gauge does not work. Not sure if the problem is in the fuel tank sender wiring or in the gas gauge. Is there a website someone can direct me to troubleshoot this? Dec 12, 2010 · Could be the CVU (constant volt unit) on the back of the dash gauge panel. It's easy to replace but not easy to get too. The Temp, Oil and fuel gauges get 5volts dc from the cvu. so I would check that first. Then check each sending unit and then the gauges. The factory sending units and fuel gauges were 0-30 ohms, so you may have a non-factory sending unit of a different ohm range, than the factory fuel gauge. This problem is not uncommon. Do the ohm range test, through the float range on the sender, with your ohm meter. It should not exceed 30 ohms +/- a few ohms.
